Jan. 17th ‘Keen Observations’ – Devotional by Dr Albert Odulele

Bible Reading:     Prov. 24:30-34

Prov. 24:30-34 ‘I went by the field of the lazy man, and by the vineyard of the man devoid of understanding; and there it was, all overgrown with thorns; its surface was covered with nettles; its stone wall was broken down. When I saw it, I considered it well; I looked on it and received instruction: a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest; so shall your poverty come like a prowler, and your need like an armed man’

Wisdom and inspiration come from ‘keen observation’ of the things around. The truth is there is something to learn in everything. Lessons are to be learnt from failure, success, trials and triumphs. Life is an ongoing school of learning to committed and serious observers.

Even agony, pain and frustration are opportunities for acquiring wisdom, not just the pleasant experiences. Simply take time to observe your environment. Step aside, take a close look, make notes and learn ‘wise’ lessons.

Solomon said ‘I went by the field of the lazy man and by the vineyard of the man devoid of understanding… I saw it, I considered it well, I looked on it and received instruction’. Walk through life considering, looking and receiving instruction by deliberate observation.

Figure out what works and what does not work. Learn fast and move on. Avoid repeating the same mistakes and learning nothing from past occurrences. Learn from the lives of others too _ become a student of life.

Prayer:

  1. Ask God to show you (by observation) the persons around that are unsaved and how to reach them.
  2. Pray for persecuted Christians around the world especially those in imposed Sharia, jihads, Marxist states, Hindu extremism and Western democracies with anti-Christ legislation. 2 Thess. 3:1-3; Ps. 50:15; Ps. 34:7

Thought for the day:

Rather than being critical or judgemental, consider learning great lessons from the achievements or mistakes of others
