Before You Do: Making Great Decisions That You Won’t Regret by T. D. Jakes
I read this book and it was so helpful to me. Bishop T D Jakes provided perceptive nuggets to apply to your decision making process. The theme of this book is centred around being able to make great decisions that you will not be remorseful about. He touched on so many angles and scenarios of Before you do’s in reference to finance, career, family, making any commitments, etc.
He draws from personal experiences: from his daughter’s wedding as well as when his son Dexter then eight, who had to speak at the graduation ceremony for their church’s Youth Entrepreneurial Camp. It was a new experience for him, but he decided to take the risk all the same. The truth is we all face new experiences with some degree of angst daily, but as Bishop Jake will say: “Feel the fear and do it anyway” make it relatable to all including myself.
Bishop Jakes encourages people to research (do the feasibility study) and visualise before they make a decision. It is never too late to be who you might have been once you have defined, establish a way to measure and perform some analysis, identified ways of improvement and relentlessly acknowledged ways to control your plan. If you are in the mist of making a BIG decision, this is an entertaining read and you will walk away with superior decision making skills.
