August 27th Discipline I
Bible Reading: Gal. 4:1; 2 Sam. 11:1-4; Exod. 31:14-16
1 Cor. 14:40 ‘let all things be done decently and in order’
Discipline is the ability to bring or train your self into doing the right thing, at the right time and to the right measure. You cannot hand a car to a child because they lack the necessary discipline of boundaries, constraints and limitations. God’s success plan is inaccessible without discipline. This is why people continue to live in failure despite hard work.
Eccl. 10:16 ‘woe to you, O land, when your king is a child, and your princes feast in the morning!’
You must discipline your flesh with godliness, moderate pleasure; sleep regulation and eradication of impulsive emotions. Discipline how you use time too. Get rid of idleness, procrastination and ill use of the Sabbath. Give time to family, study, prayer, service, etc. Also harness yourself monetarily. Have and practice great financial principles of tithing, integrity, sowing, saving, investing etc.
Lk. 16:11 ‘therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?’
Prayer:
i. Pray that the Lord will build His people and mature them in the things of the Spirit. Ps. 127:1
ii. Ask God to work zeal and passion for His house in your church and nation. Hab. 1:5; Hab. 3:2
Thought for the day:
Nothing hampers success more than lawless living.
