August 17th Practice The Word I
Bible Reading: Jam. 1:22-24; Ps. 1:1-6
Deut. 28:1
‘now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth’
It’s easier to act on God’s word when you have meditated on it. The bible says ‘that you may observe to do all…’ after you ‘meditate day and night’. Josh. 1:8. Success is exclusively for those who practice the word. This is so important I shall repeat it. ‘Success is exclusively for those who practice the word’. Too many ‘hearers’ who are not ‘doers’ end up frustrated failures.
Jam. 1:22 ‘but be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves’
The operational question is ‘are you practicing His word?’ You must diligently apply biblical truth as revealed through meditation, instruction, personal study, etc. Covenant success is conditional and not automatic. You must take personal responsibility for constantly checking your lifestyle and making it conform to the tenets of scripture.
Ps. 1:1-2
‘blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night’
Prayer:
i. Pray that all world leaders will serve their people and not themselves. Mat. 20:28
ii. Pray for mercy in places where the blood of saints is crying out. Gen. 4:10-11
Thought for the day:
Success is simple obedience to God’s word.
