August 16th Ponder The Word II
Bible Reading: Mat. 12:34; Prov. 4:23
1 Tim. 4:15 ‘meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all. Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you’
What is meditation? Simply put, it is biblical pondering. It is to seriously and deeply think through the word; fixing your attention on matters of scripture. Meditation clears ones mind of other distracting thoughts and carefully considers various and varied bible subjects.
Phil. 4:8 ‘finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy — meditate on these things’
Meditation is very much like incubation. A hen waits patiently and protectively for its eggs to hatch. There is life in the egg but it takes ‘sitting’ on it till the life breaks through. There is life in every word of God, but it takes deliberate, patient and persistent pondering until the light of revelation bursts into your heart. Then you can say ‘eureka, I have got it’.
Ps. 77:6
‘I call to remembrance my song in the night; I meditate within my heart, and my spirit makes diligent search’
Prayer:
i. Give God praise for His many benefits towards you and your loved ones. Ps. 103:1-2; Ps. 116:12
ii. Pray against every demonic force resisting your progress and prosperity. 2 Cor. 10:3-5
Thought for the day:
The road to success is proclamation, meditation and action.
