June. 21st The ‘When’ Of Prayer II
Bible Reading: Lam. 3:22-23; Is. 50:4; 55:6
Prov. 8:17 ‘I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me’. (KJV)
A careful study of the bible shows several giants of the faith sought God in prayer early in the day. Moses for instance ‘…rose early in the morning, and built an altar at the foot of the mountain…’ Exod. 24:4. It was not just about ‘where’, the ‘when’ was important too.
Joshua followed Moses’ example and ‘rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of the Lord’ Josh. 6:12. Job, the greatest man in the East in his time ‘…would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings…’ Job 1:5. Folks, there is something powerful about early morning praying.
The bible says Jesus ‘in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed’ Mk. 1:35. David said ‘O God, you are my God; early will I seek you; my soul thirsts for you…’ Ps. 63:1.
The same can be said of Jeremiah, Isaiah, Solomon and a host of others. Seek God in prayer early in the day. It’s usually quiet. You should be well rested, not drowsy and your spirit man less encumbered with the usual activities of the day. This will add great value to the effectiveness of your prayers.
