June. 1st Power In Prayer I
Bible Reading: 1 Thess. 5:17; Jam. 5:16
Jer. 33:3 ‘call to me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know’
Let us spend a few days examining the Christian practice of prayer and start with the clear notion ‘there is power in prayer’. Prayer is not a useless religious exercise or hopeless ‘clutching at straws’; if this where the case Paul would not have said ‘pray without ceasing’.
Prayer is a covenant platform for provoking God’s intervention. Prayer opens the door to supernatural transformation. Effective prayer changes things and unleashes God’s power. Jam. 5:16 says ‘the effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much’
When I was growing up, I often wandered why my mother made us pray so often. We said the grace before meals, prayed before travelling, when we needed money, whenever danger loomed etc. Now I’m a lot wiser and understand that terrible life battles are prevented or won through dynamic prayer.
Your success does not depend on people, circumstances, money, Western visas or passports, etc. There is great glory ahead, stand your ground and do what the covenant demands. God is alive and I see you commencing a tremendous adventure of prayer and testimonies.
Prayer:
i. Thank God for the new month and His tremendous blessings from the beginning of the year Ps. 100:4
ii. Receive grace to be more prayerful and the fresh anointing of the Spirit to flourish like a palm tree Ps. 92:10-12
Thought for the day:
Prayer is a covenant lifestyle and not a religious practice
