Feb. 8th Acquiring Faith I _ The Word
Bible Reading: Jam. 2:18; Heb. 6:16-18
Rom. 10:17 ‘so then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God’
As has already been said, faith is a spiritual force and can only be acquired from spiritual sources. The foremost source of faith is God’s Word and it takes conscientious study to maximise this blessing.
Jesus said ‘you search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life…’ Jn. 5:39 Feed on truth that builds faith through personal bible study, teaching services, CD’s and DVD’s. Take notes, review them, pray for understanding and promptly practice what you learn. Eph. 3:8-12; Mk. 6:6; Heb. 10:38
Stop playing games with your destiny. Commit to the Word and read every faith-building book and all material from your teachers. Go online, blogs, daily devotionals, etc. Sit at the feet of your ‘prophet and instructors’ and develop great faith.
People are victims of ‘knowledge-recession’ and not a global recession. Update your Word base and be current in your walk with God. Labour to increase your faith and enter into ‘rest’. This will be a great year for you. Is. 60:1-6; Heb. 11:32-33
Prayer:
i. Pray for God’s divine grace to walk in integrity, purity and holiness. Tit. 2:11-12; Eccl. 9:8; 1 Tim. 4:12
ii. Ask God for local, national and international leaders who walk under a divine mandate 2 Tim. 2:1-2; Is. 45:1
Thought for the day:
Careless inconsistency in handling God’s Word comes with considerable consequences.
