Jan. 31st ‘Instructions Of Wisdom’ – by Dr Albert Odulele

Bible Reading:     Prov. 1:3; 4:13; Eccl. 10:10

Prov. 1:3 ‘to receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, judgment, and equity’

If wisdom were to appear on a sheet of paper, it will read as a set of instructions. It would state ‘what’, ‘how’, ‘when’ and ‘where’ to do something in any given situation. When such instructions of wisdom are adhered to, you most definitely end up winning.

Wisdom always goes hand in hand with instructions. It is not simply a label, an emotion or some theological position. Prov. 8:33 counsels ‘hear instruction and be wise, and do not disdain it’ and Prov. 9:9 says ‘give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a just man, and he will increase in learning’.

Wisdom is a call to action that connotes doing something; it is not passive. It can be defined simply as the practical application of revealed bible knowledge. The strength and foundation of wisdom is ‘obedient action’

Joshua marched around Jericho (Josh. 6:2-3). Jehoshaphat appointed singers (2 Chr. 20:20-21). The widow responded to Elisha’s prompting (2 Kg. 4:1-7) and the servants obeyed Jesus’ instructions (Jn. 2:1-11). Wisdom’s instructions and your willing observations will give you worthwhile manifestations.

Prayer:

  1. Repent of any way you have despised or disobeyed wisdom’s instructions. Is. 55:7
  2. Pray for a discerning heart that recognizes the instruction of wisdom (whichever way it comes). Phil. 1:9-11; Col. 1:9-14

Thought for the day:
Ponder what persistent problems are products of ignored instructions
