Jan. 30th ‘The Will Of The Lord’
Bible Reading: Eph. 5:17; Prov. 3:5-8
Eph. 5:17 ‘therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is’
To be unwise is to not ‘understand what the will of the Lord is’ so wisdom knows and understands God’s will. The Good News Bible says ‘don’t be fools, then, but try to find out what the Lord wants you to do’.
‘Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way you should go’ Is. 48:17
God’s Word is His will. Study, understand and appropriate the bible daily and it will bring you profit, progress, preservation, peace and prosperity. ‘Oh, that you had heeded my commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea’ Is. 48:18
Jesus said ‘for my yoke is easy and my burden is light’ Mat. 11:30. The cost of foolishness far outweighs the demands of wisdom. Embrace the will of God.
‘Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper’ Ps. 1:1-3
Prayer:
- Ask for an understanding of God’s will 1:17-18
- Ask for grace to do God’s will no matter the cost. Phil. 2:13; 4:13
Thought for the day:
Everything God requires of us is ultimately for our good
