Jan. 13th ‘Enquire Of The Lord’ Daily Devotional by Dr Albert Odulele
Bible Reading: Jer. 33:3; 2 Sam. 5:18-19, 22-23
Jer. 10:23 ‘O Lord, I know the way of man is not in himself; it is not in man who walks to direct his own steps’
You acquire wisdom when you enquire of the Lord. Heaven has something great planned out but you must find out how to get there. Make it a habit to ask God and to keep asking. Never take decisions simply based on intellect, common sense, experience or training.
The foundation for an unstoppable life is doing everything and anything as commanded by God. ‘Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass’ Ps. 37:5. Make this a lifestyle and habit, an addiction to always crosscheck things with God’s throne room.
Never assume or presume before taking steps. Always call upon God and receive clearance from Him. David said ‘you (God) are my hiding place; you shall preserve me from trouble; you shall surround me with songs of deliverance. I (God) will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with my eye’ Ps. 32:7-8
Wisdom is given to those who inquire of the Lord. ‘There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death’ Prov. 14:12. King David enquired twice before waging war with the Philistines on both occasions. That’s what secures victory in every conflict.
Prayer:
- Pray against and dismantle international drug rings (Chinese triads, Japanese yakuza, Jamaican yardies, Colombian drug barons, etc) 2 Cor. 10:3-6; Eph. 6:10-12
- Repent of all the past decisions where you failed to consult God. Prov. 3:5-8
Thought for the day:
Connect with wisdom in directing your affairs and consider the folly of past decisions by failing to enquire of the Lord.
