September 24th Godliness I
Bible Reading: 1 Tim. 4:7-12; Gen. 39:6-8
Ps. 89:14-15 ‘righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; mercy and truth go before your face. Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! They walk, O Lord, in the light of your countenance’
Nobody prevails in any field of endeavour without travail, keep your covenant walk and responsibilities and God is certain to keep His. A godly lifestyle in public and in private is a covenant practice for a life of exploits and divine backing. Holiness is not a popular word in our day but it remains a powerful condition to God’s blessings.
Joseph declined Potiphar’s wife’s advances and secured his destiny. He chose godliness. Abraham decided to tithe and chose the fear of the Lord over monetary gain. Mary told the servants ‘whatever He says to you, do’ and water was converted to wine. She chose obedience. Jn. 2:5
Gen. 14:20 ‘and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand. And he gave him a tithe of all’
Brethren, have a clear understanding of the unfathomable blessings of a covenant walk of godliness. David said ‘as for me, I will see your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake in your likeness’ Ps. 17:15. Be like Jesus and let your lifestyle be like His.
Prayer:
i. Pray that angels be sent to contend with demonic forces ruling over regions. Dan. 10:13
ii. Dedicate yourself to serving God earnestly, passionately and consistently. Exod. 23:25
Thought for the day:
Godliness is the non-negotiable virtue of greatness.
