September 21st Battles Of The Mind IV
Bible Reading: Num. 14:29-30; 2 Tim. 1:7
Ps. 42:5 ‘why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him for the help of His countenance’
Self-talk can be limiting to divine promise and purpose. Become aware of your inner chatter and regulate it to prosper your health, wealth and wellbeing. Avoid, with emphasis, and terminate particularly negative inner thoughts such as complaining and despair. The Israelites murmured and their bodies littered the wilderness.
Also stay away from self-defacing inferiority complexes and a ‘can’t-do’ mentality. God ‘created you in His image’ Gen. 1:27 and you ‘can do all things through Christ’ Phil. 4:13. Rage is another destructive thought. Paul said ‘be angry, and do not sin: do not let the sun go down on your wrath nor give place to the devil’ Eph. 4:26-27.
Ps. 121:1-2 ‘I will lift up my eyes to the hills from whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth’
It’s a long list. Thoughts of sorrow, helplessness, hopelessness, hurt, disappointment, betrayal, envy, fear, anxiety, sickness, etc must be flushed out. It is said that you can change your thoughts, actions and habits in twenty-one days; it just takes some effort, discipline and the help of the Spirit of God.
Prayer:
i. Pray for the peace of God in nations facing extremism and religious fanaticism. Ps. 122:6
ii. Petition God for grace to spend time with Him in intimate fellowship to radiate His glory. Exod. 34:29
Thought for the day:
It’s the thinking patterns of many that stops their success.
