September 18th Battles Of The Mind I
Bible Reading: Ruth 1:11-16; Job. 19:25-26; Exod. 7:1
Gen. 21:16 ‘then she went and sat down across from him at a distance of about a bowshot; for she said to herself, let me not see the death of the boy. So she sat opposite him, and lifted her voice and wept’
Hagar ‘said to herself’ ‘my son is going to die’. Ask yourself the question ‘what have you been telling yourself?’. Your greatest battles in life will not be against devils or enemies but negative destructive thoughts. Combating floods of mental pictures and thoughts that embattle faith is ‘the’ battle all believers must win.
You must learn to practice and perfect covenant thinking. Bible personalities such as Job, Ruth, Rahab, Abraham, Moses and Jabez had to contend with and prevail over assaults on their minds. You must discern Satan’s mental-arrows and promptly repel them before they take root.
Gen. 15:5 ‘then He brought him outside and said, look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them. And He said to him, so shall your descendants be’
I counsel you to create and paint pictures, images and scenarios in your mind from the bible. ‘Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy — meditate on these things’ Phil. 4:8
