September 6th Thanksgiving; Praise & Worship IV
Bible Reading: Ps. 106:47
1 Chron. 16:35 ‘and say, save us, O God of our salvation; gather us together, and deliver us from the Gentiles, to give thanks to your holy name, to triumph in your praise’
Thanksgiving is as crucial to your Christian walk as the air we breathe. God saves and delivers so that we can ‘give thanks’. To fail to be thankful is a spiritual debt and breaks the covenant that says ‘to give thanks to your holy name’. God’s salvation, deliverance, mercy and grace are opportunities to give thanks.
Give God thanks and praise at home, in the office, on the train or in your car. Bless Him when all is going well and as planned but also when confronting adversity, conflict and opposition. When you feel sad, lonely, weary or discouraged be ‘praise-full’. If people mock and write you off or it appears like God is distant, bless His name.
Ps. 97:12 ‘rejoice in the Lord, you righteous, and give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name’
‘In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you’ 1 Thess. 5:18 Paul said ‘continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving’ Col. 4:2. Thanksgiving is the ‘missing link’ for many. God wants to be thanked. Give Him the appreciation He richly deserves.
Prayer:
i. Pray that the fruit of the spirit abounds in your life and character. Gal. 5:22-23; Is. 51:3
ii. Petition God’s throne for Christians that suffer persecution and execution in various regions Is. 55:12
Thought for the day:
No matter what you think; God is worthy of praise.
