June. 19th The ‘Where’ Of Prayer II
Bible Reading: 1 Kg. 18:20-45; Jonah 2:1-2, 10
Acts 3:1 ‘now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour’
Simply put, prayer is essentially dialogue between a male or female and his or her Creator. This is the reason why the ‘where’ of prayer is ‘anywhere’. You can talk to God anywhere just as much as He can communicate with you anywhere too.
Elijah and Elisha were significant Old Testament prophets and prayed quite a lot. It is interesting to see that Elijah prayed in all kinds of places. 1 Kg. 18:20-21 shows he prayed on Mount Carmel publicly and openly.
Conversely in 2 Kg. 4:33 Elisha prayed privately in a bedroom to raise the dead son of a Shunammite woman. They prayed in different kinds of places and one brought fire out of a clear sky while the other raised a dead child. God is no respecter of places in answering prayer.
Imagine for a moment that Jonah prayed in the belly of a huge fish and God answered. What or where could be more dramatic than that? Never forget that God responds to prayer directed towards Him in faith regardless of geographical location or circumstantial improbability.
Prayer:
i. Tell God how much you believe He hears you whenever and wherever you pray in faith to Him. 1 Jn. 5:14
ii. Pray grace for unity and synergy in the Body of Christ towards kingdom exploits on earth. Jn. 17:20-21; Eph. 4:13
Thought for the Day:
Be bold in prayer anywhere
