June. 18th The ‘Where’ Of Prayer I
Bible Reading: Mat. 6:6; 8:23-26; Jn. 11:38-43; Mk. 1:35
1 Tim. 2:8 ‘I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting’
There are sacred places on earth, Solomon prayed ‘that your eyes may be open toward this temple night and day, toward the place of which you said, my name shall be there, that you may hear the prayer which your servant makes toward this place’ 1 Kg. 8:29. However, you can pray to God anywhere.
God is Omnipresent and is in all places at all times. As a result, you can pray to Him anywhere. Jesus practiced and encouraged private, secret place, closet prayer. His entire sojourn on earth was characterized with intimate interaction with the Father.
Jesus often went up a mountain to pray Lk. 6:12. He also talked to God in front of the tomb of Lazarus and publicly announced that God ‘hears Him always’. He prayed in solitary places and also in a ship on sea. Yes, Jesus prayed in all kinds of places.
Folks, learn to pray at home, in the office, on the train or in your car. Do not restrict your praying to a church edifice or some hallowed grounds. Pray on the plane, in hospital, in school, shopping malls or anywhere else occasion demands.
Prayer:
i. Pray right now, wherever you are. Pray that the Lord will make room for you and your prophecy. Gen. 26:22
ii. Ask for a renewed zeal for outreach and good works personally and in the church. 2 Tim. 4:5; Tit. 2:14; 3:14
Thought for the Day:
Appreciate the privilege of access to God in all places
