Feb. 22nd Spiritual Mindedness
Bible Reading: 1 Cor. 2:14-16
Prov. 4:23 ‘keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life’
The things of God are ‘spiritually discerned’ and the ‘natural man (mind) does not receive the things of the Spirit of God’. The Spirit cannot give revelation to a mind filled with ‘carnal stuff’ such as strife, anger, bitterness, unforgiveness, lust, love for money, etc. Mat. 13:7
Be sensitive. Build a spiritually robust life and stop feeding your mind with junk from the news, Internet, TV, etc. Radically guard your spirit; this is so vital to defining your destiny. Dynamic faith needs a spiritual mind. You are either carnal or spiritual; there is no neutral ground. 1 Cor. 3:1-5
1 Cor. 3:1-3 ‘and I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?’
Protect your mind and spirit-man from unproductive carnal and sensual music, conversations, reports and broadcasts. Be wise. John said ‘I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet’ Rev. 1:10. He heard God’s voice because he was in the Spirit despite the adverse circumstances.
Prayer:
i. Repent of all sin and ask for grace to be Jesus-like and to walk in the light always 1 Tim. 4:7; 6:11; 2 Pt. 3:11
ii. Pray that ignorance and spiritual blindness will give way for revelation and truth Mat. 4:16; Jn. 1:5
Thought for the day:
Carnality is the cause of several casualties
