June. 2nd Power In Prayer II
Bible Reading: Ps. 84:7; Is. 38:1-5; Lk. 9:28-35
2 Cor. 4:9-10 ‘persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed — always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body’
There is nothing prayer cannot change because nothing is impossible for God and prayer hands things over to the Lord. The bible says ‘Jesus looked at them and said, with men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible’ Mat. 19:26.
Hezekiah was terminally ill but prayer added fifteen years to his life. Jesus was transfigured as He prayed. Nations are transformed, sicknesses healed and sinners are sanctified through the power of prayer. 2 Chron. 7:14; Jam. 5:14-15; 1 Jn. 2:9-11
Almost thirty years ago I was told I might have cancer of the blood. I had tumours all over and underwent surgery to remove one or two for biopsy. I remember isolating myself one night in an open field and calling on the Lord in prayer. To God’s glory the tumours and diagnosis were gone only a few days later.
Whatever has shaken your confidence in prayer must be purged for God does answer prayer. Jesus said ‘ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened’ Mat. 7:7-8
Prayer:
i. Ask God to strengthen your faith and prayer life through His Word and by the Holy Spirit Mat. 26:40
ii. Pray for a friend, work colleague or family member who is not saved. Ask the Lord to touch them. Mat. 7:7
Thought for the day:
Prayer accesses God-possibilities and escapes human-frailties
