May 17th Holy Spirit – The Master Builder
Bible Reading: Isaiah 54:2-3, 1 Cor 3:9-11
Isa 54:2-3 ‘Enlarge the place of your tent, And let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; Do not spare; Lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes. For you shall expand to the right and to the left, and your descendants will inherit the nations, and make the desolate cities inhabited.’
Jer 29:11 ‘For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.’
1 Cor 3:9-11 ‘For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field; you are God’s building. According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise masterbuilder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ’.
Have you noticed the noise and debris that comes out of a building site? In fact one would avoid such areas as much as possible. I know of a couple who did some extension work on their home some time ago. It was a loft conversion and a new kitchen. During the building work, their beautiful cosy home looked like a war zone. There was dust and debris everywhere. The couple endured all the inconveniences because of the agreed outcome they were working towards.
Has God called you to do something great and yet it seems that the contrary is happening? Take heart! It might be that Holy Spirit is expanding your capacity for the greater works.
God is the Master Builder of your life and has a master plan for your life. He wants you out of your comfort zone because He wants to bring expansion to you.
Jer 29:11 says ‘For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope’.
Prayer:
• Pray for the ability to endure and flourish in every season of life.
Psalms 1:1-4; Hebrews 12:2-3
• Pray for GH, that we will utilise the God given ability to build and to expand in all that He has commissioned us to do.
2 Kings 6:1-7; 1 Corinthians 3:11-14
Thought for the day:
The building comes first, then the furnishing

  1. I will teach you these things now. I want you to trust the Lord. These are words of advice and wisdom.
If you are weak in times of trouble, that is real weakness. Knowledge gives a man strength and begins with fear and respect for the Lord.
People think that whatever they do is right, but the Lord judges the reasons for everything they do. There is no one wise enough to make a plan that can succeed if the Lord is against it. Good homes are built on wisdom and understanding. Knowledge fills the rooms with rare and beautiful treasures Wisdom makes a man more powerful. Whoever leaves the path of wisdom will be on their way to an early death.
My teaching and my speaking were not with wise words that persuade people. But the proof of my teaching was the power that the Spirit gives so that your faith would be in God’s power, not in human wisdom. We do not use words taught to us by human wisdom. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God. We use words taught to us by the Spirit of Jesus. In Him all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are kept safe.
Jesus has become for us wisdom from God. He is the reason we are right with God and pure enough to be in his presence. Christ is the one who set us free from sin.
Always remember what is written in that book of law. Speak about that book and study it day and night.
Then you can be sure to obey what is written there. If you do this, you will be wise and successful in everything you do. So listen, my son, and be wise. Always be careful to follow the right path. People who try hard to do good and be faithful will find life, goodness, and honor. Remember, I commanded you to be strong and brave. Don’t be afraid, because the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go
Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Holy Spirit. God gave us that grace fully and freely. With full wisdom and understanding He let us know his secret plan.
For God has declared : ” I know the plans I have for you, plans for welfare to give you a future and a hope.”
