May 15th Holy Spirit – Our Transformer

Bible Reading: Romans 12:1-2, Titus 3:1-7

Rom 12:1-2 ‘I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.’

Titus 3:3-7 ‘For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. But when the kindness and the love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life’

Before World War II the island now known as Paradise Island, in the Bahamas, was known as Hog Island. It was the private estate of a Swedish entrepreneur. The interesting thing about this island is that the geographical location has not changed. However it was necessary to change the name to reflect its new identity.

A new identify to reflect the transformation from “Hog” to “Paradise”, a “private estate” to a “holiday resort”. A holiday resort, set up as a place for recreation, rejuvenation, restoration and refreshment.

‘You shall no longer be termed Forsaken, nor shall your land any more be termed Desolate; but you shall be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah; For the LORD delights in you, and your land shall be married’. Isaiah 62:4

Jesus purchased us from a sinful state with His blood so that the Holy Spirit could develop and transform our identity to reflect the true beauty of His creation. Allow the Holy Spirit to create within you a place – “a resort” where your community can find encouragement, restoration and refreshment.

Prayer:
• Pray and ask for the ability to see beyond your current “estate”. Place your trust in God’s restorative plan for your life.
• Isaiah 42:9; Ezekiel 36: 9-10
• Pray that God will use what the enemy meant for evil as a tool of building and establishing others. Isaiah 58:12, 2 Peter 9-10

Thought for the day:
True restoration and transformation starts from your soul
