September 22nd Govern Your Speech I
Bible Reading: Prov. 15:4; Col. 4:6

Prov. 18:20-21 ‘a man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth; from the produce of his lips he shall be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit’
One of the hardest disciplines to maintain is speaking in line with God’s covenant. Never utter anything that’s not in tune with God’s word and promises, as your life will be filled with the produce of your tongue. Speak life to your body, bank account and future. This is one of the great privileges of Pentecost.
Stop saying what circumstances dictate; say what God’s word declares. ‘A wholesome tongue is a tree of life’ while careless speaking will produce aggravation and sorrow. Say ‘I am healed’ in the face of sickness and ‘my needs are met’ when the bills come flooding in.
Mat. 12:37 ‘for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned’
There is power in your speech. You are tried and acquitted or convicted based on the verbal evidence you provide. God said ‘as surely as you have spoken to my hearing so I shall do unto you’ Num. 14:28. Awake to the responsibility and tame the little member of your anatomy that can set on fire the very course of nature.
Prayer:
i. Pray that believers will make the word, prayer and righteousness priorities. Jer. 15:16
ii. Intercede for the economy of your nation and the region of the world it’s in. 2 Kg. 7:1
Thought for the day:
The devil needs your words to legitimise his agenda.
