June. 25th The ‘What’ Of Prayer IV
Bible Reading: Mat. 7:7; Jn. 16:24
Jer. 29:11 ‘for I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Then you will call upon me and go and pray to me, and I will listen to you’
Prayer is communion with the Lord. It is asking, petitioning and receiving from God. The bible says ‘call to me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know’ Jer. 33:3.
Prayer is requesting for divine intervention on the bases of God’s word and what He promised. For instance, Joel 2:17 says:
‘Let the priests, who minister to the Lord, weep between the porch and the altar; let them say, spare your people, O Lord, and do not give your heritage to reproach, that the nations should rule over them. Why should they say among the peoples, where is their God?’
Prayer is a pillar of the Christian faith and is the breath of the regenerated spirit. Prayer is not a monologue and is certainly not an opportunity to moan and grumble about problems. Prayer is not persuading God to act against His will.
Saints of God, prayer does not change God but changes situations. Your emotions do not persuade God but passion based on the Word, when praying move Him. He said ‘I am the Lord, I do not change; therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob’ Mal. 3:6
Prayer:
iii. Petition God for restoration of health, wealth and wellbeing in someone close to you Jer. 30:17
iv. Pray for understanding of God’s will about every situation in your life and the right way to pray about them
