Jan. 20th ‘Passionate Love For God’ – Daily Devotional – by Dr Albert Odulele
Bible Reading: Deut. 6:5-7
Mat. 22:37-38 ‘Jesus said to him, you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment’
Give God 1st place in your life. As a matter of fact, make Him your 1st, 2nd and 3rd priority, then anyone or anything else can come afterwards. Pursue God with all your heart and He will pursue anything or anyone pursuing you.
Josh. 23:11 says ‘therefore take careful heed to yourselves, that you love the Lord your God’. When a person loves God with all their heart there is no room to love anything or anyone else above Him; that includes your self. Work hard but be driven by love for God.
The secret to unhindered and un-abated increase and progress is to love God completely, absolutely, totally and entirely. Love God in your heart, your thoughts, your actions and your decisions; He is energised by such lovers.
‘That you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them’ Deut. 30:20. He is ‘your life… cling to Him’.
Prayer:
- Intercede for millions of unreached Africans; Tuareg, Berber, Kanuri-Kanembu, Hausa, Volta-Gur, Pygmy, etc. Ps. 86:9; 2:8
- Pray for a revival of love for God in your heart and in your church. 69:9; Mat. 22:37-38
