Jan. 18th ‘Are You Studious?’- Daily Devotional By Dr Albert Odulele
Bible Reading:     Dan. 5:11-12

Dan. 9:2 ‘in the first year of his reign I, Daniel, understood by the books the number of the years specified by the word of the Lord through Jeremiah the prophet, that He would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem’

Sadly, many have not developed a culture of continuous learning and are paying a heavy price. I humorously tell people many haven’t read a book from ‘cover to cover’ since they left college. It’s tragic.

Your thoughts can only be as powerful as the content of your mind. Give your ‘soul’ sound ‘substance’ as empty minds have adventures of barren thoughts. Be studious. Make reading and studying a constant, consistent priority. Information is a free enterprise in the twenty-first century.

It was said about Daniel _’there is a man in your kingdom in whom is the Spirit of the Holy God. And in the days of your father, light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, were found in him; and King Nebuchadnezzar your father — your father the king — made him chief of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers. Inasmuch as an excellent spirit, knowledge, understanding, interpreting dreams, solving riddles, and explaining enigmas were found in this Daniel…’ Dan. 5:11-12

Study books, audio and videotapes, CD’s, DVD’s, magazines and godly material. Read extensively and consistently. God often times provides answers and bestows wisdom through books. In seasons when reading is deficient, thoughts will be unproductive and life becomes risky. Study and make your mind fertile ground for divine wisdom and inspiration.

Prayer:

  1. Pray for the discipline to become studious and to start, ‘one book at a time’ 2 Tim. 2:15
  2. Uphold pastors, ministers and servants of God in prayer: that they may be examples in holiness, evangelism, prayer, marriage, etc 4:3-4; 1 Tim. 4:12-16

Thought for the day:
Many suffer intensively with the answers stacked on a bookshelf nearby.
