Jan. 14th ‘Insight From Scriptures’ By Dr Albert Odulele

Bible Reading:     Jn. 1:1-5, 9; Is. 34:16

Lk. 11:49 ‘therefore the wisdom of God also said, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill and persecute’

The great US senator and statesman Daniel Webster (1782-1852) once said ‘I wonder how any Christian will miss his way if he reads the bible’. The bible is the bank and repository of God’s wisdom; Jesus said ‘…the wisdom of God also said’, which was a reference to the Scriptures.

God’s Word is God. The Word is referred to with the definite article ‘Him’ in Jn. 1:1-5. God is the only wise God so search the scriptures and be filled with His wisdom. Word people are wise persons! Daniel ‘understood by books’ (the book of Jeremiah) Dan. 9:2-3 and obtained wisdom for direction.

Do not stagger into your future; locate wisdom for your journey in the bible. Marriage is a journey, as is business, career, ministry, etc. Get wisdom from the Word before ‘boarding the various flights of life’.

Prioritise the Scriptures and have a study schedule. Paul counselled Timothy ‘till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine’ 1 Tim. 4:13. Prayer and fasting are great spiritual exercises, but search the scriptures first. The scriptures are able to make you wise.

2 Tim. 3:15 ‘and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus

Prayer:

  1. Electronic communication (cyberspace) has achieved unimaginable proportions. It’s possibilities and dangers are enormous. Pray for God’s hand to rest on it. Eph. 1:21-23
  2. Pray for grace (divine enablement) to be consistent in Bible study _ this is a spiritual battle in modern society and times. 119:18

Thought for the day:
The more of the bible you study, the wiser you become.
