September 9th Engaging God’s Word III
Bible Reading: Gen. 13:14-17; 15:1-5
Mat. 13:23 ‘but he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty’
Bible understanding is seeing truth as God sees it and this is what unleashes the power in the word. When you understand the scriptures it trains your perceptions and disciplines your interpretations of events. Understanding also prevents carnal and ungodly choices.
Understanding is a by-product of giving the word attention. Study the bible and meditate on it, this way allowing the Holy Spirit to teach you. The Spirit of God is the ‘Spirit of wisdom and understanding’ Is. 11:2. On the other hand wisdom is the practical application of understanding; it knows how to use the word.
2 Tim. 3:15 ‘and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus’
Friend, knowledge comes by the way of instruction, study, reading, writing, learning, schooling, etc. It takes deliberate consistent daily effort on the part of the individual. No one becomes a nuclear scientist by prayer, likewise no one becomes a reservoir of divine secrets without study.
Prayer:
i. Pray for fresh oil and grace for Pastor and the leadership of Glory House to fulfill vision. Ps. 92:10
ii. Speak the high praise of God and reject the spirit of heaviness. Is. 61:3
